South Sarasota Kiwanis Club

Kiwanis Club of South Sarasota

This club has lots of history and tradition. We were founded in October of 1961.

Our major fund raisers are annual Pancake Breakfasts, the Travelogue series, and Peanut Days.

We are a community Service club in Sarasota, by participating in Fruit Gleaning and donated the picked fruit to All Faiths Food Bank, Annual event to feed the children at the Boys and Girls Club before school starts (when their grant runs out). We collect clothing for children through donations by our members and in conjunction with a clothing consignment shop in the Gulf Gate area, recipients are the YMCA Clothes Closet for foster children and Mothers Helping Mothers (both organizations do NOT sell the clothing).

For years we have sponsered the Sarasota County Library System Dial-a-Story, where kids can call a number and it reads them a story. With the changes in technology we have improved the system to a podcast with video and audio online where at a click of a mouse the child now can read along with the volunteer who is reading the book via video podcast. This will be able to reach children worldwide from the local level.

Volunteers are always welcome and needed for many service projects. Membership is open to the public, we welcome you to join us for a lunch meeting, we meet every Tuesday at 12:15pm at

Our club foundation supports Oak Park public school for the severely handicapped (which has a very high percentage of single parent homes or foster homes). They have needs in their Art Program and we supply funds and supplies.

In recent years, South Sarasota Kiwanis Foundation contributed over $25,000 to local and national charities and contributed $10,000 in scholarships to local deserving students. Our 30 plus active membership enables us to get involved in community projects. We encourage you to join our club and benefit yourself and the community with your personal contributions.

At Mr. Beery’s, he wants to replicate that success on a much more intimate scale.  We have 24 draft lines, a constant rotating selection,” says Tuchman, with a broad scope of style, ABV, representation of the country and world, as well as price.” He also plans on carrying around 50-60 different bottles at any time, all devoted solely to American craft brews and artisan beer from around the world.  Keep that selection ever-changing and its another reason for people to come in and see what we have in.”
